Tearing Us Apart is a rock duet, written by Eric Clapton and released as the second single from his album August. Phil Collins produced the song and played drums and percussions. Tina and Eric performed the song live at the Prince’s Trust concert in London’s Wembley Arena, which was released the following year on the Royal Concert charity album. A second live recording of the track from Tina's Break Every Rule Tour with a guest appearance from Eric Clapton was included on the album Live in Europe. Tina did also the backing vocals on the b-side track.
The music video was recorded live at the All Star Rock concert at London's Wembley Arena on June 20, 1986. It shows Tina and Eric together on stage performing the song with the band including Elton John, Midge Ure, Phil Collins and Mark Knopfler. The clip was produced from Anthony Eaton and is available on the Princes Trust home video from 1987 on DVD.
Released in June 1987 in Europe and in August 1987 in America from WEA / Duck Records on 7“ & 12“ (picture) vinyl, Tearing Us Apart reached #56 in England.
