African American Lives was an American television miniseries hosted by historian Henry Louis Gates Jr., focusing on African American genealogical research. The family histories of prominent people of African American descent are explored using traditional genealogic techniques as well as genetic analysis.

The second season premiered in February 2008 and traced the ancestry of performers like Morgan Freeman, Tom Joyner, Chris Rock, Don Cheadle and Tina Turner. The episode with Tina was aired on February 13, 2008 and was released on the African American Lives 2 home video.
