Funkier Than A Mosquito’s Tweeter is a compilation of tracks originally released on Liberty and United Artists Records between 1969-1975, which was Ike & Tina’s most creative period. It includes only one hit single with I Want To Take You Higher, beside many rather unknown songs from records like Nuff Said from 1971 or Let Me Touch Your Mind from 1973. After coming off a tour with the Rolling Stones in 1969, Ike decided that the band needed to rock. He set about creating a hard-rocking brand of funk, added his nasty guitar riffs and does strange things with a lot of synthesizers, like the wobbly drone that runs through „What You Don't See“ or the burbling tones on „Popcorn.“ Tina is at her snarling best throughout, cutting a wide path with her withering sneer and screaming emotion. It is especially fun on the title track to hear her reading the riot act to some jerk who is doing her dirt (although it is less fun when you realize she is talking about Ike and her life with him was a living hell at this point).
