Goodbye So Long was taken from the 1965 compilation album The Soul of Ike & Tina. Ike & Tina performed the song live at their guest appearance in the movie Taking Off, as well as at several tv shows in America. A different version of the title track was included on the 1971 album Workin Together.

Released in May 1965 from Modern Records in America and in October 1966 from Stateside Records in England on 7“ vinyl, Goodbye, So Long reached #32 (R&B) in America.
