IKE & TINA: Song

I Heard It Through The Grapevine

was written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong for Motown Records in 1966 and was first recorded by Gladys Knight & the Pips in September 1967, but the most famous version is from Marvin Gaye, which was #1 for seven weeks on the Billboard single chart. Ike & Tina Turner covered the song in their concerts, available on the album In Person from 1969. Thirty years later, Tina recorded a new version for her last studio album Twenty Four Seven, but the track was removed from the tracklist and stays since then unreleased, only available on an internal demo record. She performed it also live at her Twenty Four Seven Tour, available on the On Last Time home video.
