The music video is very sexy and shows Tina at a beach, wearing a red mini dress and playing around with a whip. Some shirtless men with white trousers are lying in the waves and do acrobatic exercises, while some women in bikinis are dancing at the beach. The clip is only available on the Simply The Best LaserDisc edition, but is unfortunately still waiting for a release on DVD.

Tina Turner - I Want You Near Me - Music Video
EMI (Germany)

Tina Turner is once more the undisputed and most successful artist of EMI Germany. Several longplayer from the „First Lady Of Rock“ were certified last year. Her greatest hits compilation „Simply The Best,“ which was released in October 1991, was certified platinum, the album „Break Every Rule“ and „Private Dancer“ reached double platinum status.

„Simply The Best“ became within a few months an excellent fundus for further top singles for the unique singer, whose popularity is undisputed, even without live and media presence. Another example: Earlier this year, Tina Turner was honored with the „Golden Camera“.

After „Nutbush City Limits,“ in a newly recorded version, „Way of the World“ and „Love Thing,“ I Want You Near Me is the fourth single from „Simply the Best“. The latter three were exclusively recorded for this album. I Want You Near Me was written by the team of Terry Britten and Graham Lyle, who also composed her worldwide hits „What's Love Got To Do With It“ and „We Don’t Need Another Hero“. Terry Britten also produced the song.

With I Want You Near Me, an excellent and elegant ballad, Tina Turner recommends her once more for a top listing in the charts.
