The Gospel According To Ike And Tina remains as one of Ike & Tina's most obscure and underrated album and reflect one of the more unusual steps the couple took in their recording career. Musically, it features new arrangements of gospel standards with heavy use of Ike’s new synthesizers. The lead vocals are from Ike Turner, Tina Turner and from both together. The album was reviewed in Billboard magazine in it’s issue from April 27, 1970 and received a Grammy nomination in 1975. It was reissued on compact disc on the double CD Sweet Rhode Island Red / The Gospel According To Ike & Tina.
