River Deep, Mountain High was first released in 1966 from the same named album and was a big hit in Europe, especially in England. Because the single was not so successful in America, the River Deep, Mountain High album was not released before 1969 in the United States with some changes in the tracklist, accompanied with the reissue of the title track. In contrast to the American release, the previous unreleased b-side track „I’ll Keep You Happy“ was replaced on the European version with the track „Save The Last Dance For Me“ from the album, which is a cover song from the Drifters. This reissue reached once again the charts in England.
