The ABC Monday Night Comedy Special was broadcasted between May and September 1977 and covered an assortment of episodes for proposed series that did not make the schedule, as well as leftovers from cancelled shows. The episode with Tina Turner was originally intended as the pilot for an updated 70s version of musical shows like Shindig! or Hullabaloo, with the working title Constantinople. ABC ultimately decided not to pick up this new series and it was then aired as part of the ABC Monday Night Comedy Special on July 25, 1977.
