Ike & Tina Turner - The World of Ike & Tina - Album

The World of Ike & Tina is a double live album, originally released in a gatefold cover. The songs were recorded at Ike & Tina’s 1973 European tour in England, France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and Holland. It’s the only release with the song „Stand By Me“. The album was reissued on CD from EMI under the simple title „Live,“ which is unfortunately no longer available.

The special magic of the Ike and Tina Turner Show always seems to shine through best on their "live" outings, where crowd response can be heard and the team can make improvisations. Ike and Tina are a highly visual as well as musical act, and their impact is stronger on sets such as this. In this double set, Tina is as strong and lusty voiced as ever. The band is tight and Ike contributes strongly with his vocals and arrangements. Material has also been chosen well, from the rock of the Beatles and Stones to the hard r&b of Hank Ballard to the straight blues of Elmore James to Turner originals. Also included is the song many feel was the greatest rock production of it’s day, "River Deep, Mountain High."

Best cuts: "Get Back," "Honky Tony Women," "Dust My Broom,“ "River Deep, Mountain High."

Dealers: Duo strong in pop and soul. Double cover folds out into extremely attractive display.
