African American Lives (2008)

African American Lives was an American television miniseries hosted by historian Henry Louis Gates Jr., focusing on African American genealogical research. The family histories of prominent people of African American descent are explored using using traditional genealogic techniques as well as genetic analysis.

The second season premiered in February 2008 and traced the ancestry of performers like Morgan Freeman, Tom Joyner, Chris Rock, Don Cheadle and Tina Turner, down through U.S. history and back to Africa. The episode with Tina was aired on February 13, 2008.
