I’m So Thankful (1965)

Ikettes - I'm So Thankful - Single

I’m So Thankful with lead vocals from Jessie Smith was a R&B success, but no pop crossover like I’m Blue or Peaches 'N’ Cream. The Ikettes promoted the single with appearances at some tv shows like „Shindig,“ „Hullahalloo“ and „Shebang“. The version on the album Soul The Hits is a different mix with a few extra backing vocals. The b-side track „Don't Feel Sorry For Me“ is a funked up cover of an old Jimmy Beasley hit from 1956.

Cashbox Review

August 07, 1965

The Iketters are a cinch to create a tremendous sales-stir with this in both the pop and r&b markets. The top lid here, "I'm So Thankful" a slow-shufflin' romantic ode about a love-sick gal who is on cloud nine since she met the fella of her dreams. Undercut, "Don’t Feel Sorry Me," is a hard-driving blues twister about a jilted lass who claims happy that her romance went kaput.
