Tina as Cleopatra / Tina & Kevyn 1996 in Paris

Kevyn Aucoin was an American make-up artist, photographer and author of several books. He was interested in makeup from the time he was a child and after he moved to New York, he started to work for Vogue and together with photographer Steven Meisel. His cover shoot with the emerging supermodel Cindy Crawford in 1986 skyrocketed his career with a lot of more cover shoots and the offer from Revlon to work as their Creative Director. Aucoin worked with hundreds of celebrities, including Madonna, Whitney Houston, Cher, Liza Minnelli, Janet Jackson and Tina Turner. He died on May 7, 2002, at Westchester Medical Center in New York.

Kevyn was responsible for Tina’s makeup at many of her professional photo shootings for record covers, promotional pictures and for official events. Over the years, Tina and Kevyn became friends and for his book 'Face Foreward' from 2000, he did a makeup with Tina in the style of Cleopatra.

He documented his life and career with a Polaroid camera and VHS camcorder as well as in a collection of scrapbook-style journals. In the movie 'Beauty & The Best In Me‘ from 2017, this personal videos merged together with interviews to provide a peek into his life. It includes also a scene with Tina Turner.
