The Tony Awards recognizes excellence in live Broadway theatre, presented by the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League at an annual ceremony in Midtown Manhattan. TINA - The Tina Turner Musical on Broadway received 12 nominations for the 74th Annual Tony Awards, including for „Best Musical“. The ceremony was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic to September 26, 2021 at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City with the hosts Leslie Odom, Jr. and Audra McDonald.

Adrienne Warren, who played the role of Tina Turner at the Westend in London and later at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on Broadway won an Award in the category „Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role“. She also performed a medley with three songs live on stage.
