Love Explosion is Tina's second solo album after she left Ike and is much more disco influenced than it’s predecessor Rough. Beside the title track, also Music Keeps Me Dancin' was released as a single, which is the only song from the album Tina performed live in her concerts. A live version is available on the Wild Lady of Rock home video from 1979.

Released in March 1979 from United Artists Records in England and Ariola Records in Germany on vinyl and cassette, Love Explosion and it’s singles didn’t charted and was not released in America. It was reissued from EMI Records in Europe on compact disc in 1990.
